Calm Down People

Its over…The world didn’t disappear

Majority of the world woke up on November 5th from an age-old dream that was realized in our generation. On the flip side, some of you woke up not so happy with America’s choice for the president of the United States. Like a friend of mine joked, “…just had the bad dream, but this time he was black.”

I can't believe the facebook statuses that I have seen. Boy, did I predict it! Here are some of the statuses I saw –

“Lindsey is going to shoot herself before all the NIGGERS get a chance…that’s right I said it!!!! Say something!” (http://www.facebook.com/friends/?ref=tn#/photo.php?pid=32672755&id=121800635&ref=mf)

"All the hunters gather up, we have a nigger in the Whitehouse"

“[I was] wondering what happened to the last Hussein…”

Let’s take a look on some of the rest of the internet. The link below has some stuff I won’t feel right repeating. You just take a look - http://www.splcenter.org/blog/2008/02/20/racist-attacks-on-obama-growing-more-heated/ - I hope you were as appalled as I was reading that article. I mean can they really be that upset about Obama as the president, simply because they disagree with SOME of his policies??? I think not.

I am not saying that all the people that didn’t vote for Obama voted strictly based on race. Lots voted based on policies; some of which were misguided. Truly, I got tired of defending the socialism, pro-abortion, and pro-gay charges since the election ended. I extensively address those charges in some of my other political notes. Well, back to the point.

Of course, a lot of people may not be as openly blatant as some of the above statuses were, but I think some of them are largely uncomfortable with a black president; whether they consider it racism or not. I have asked this before – if Bill Clinton (the president with the best rating since the 1950s, according to USA Today) shares similar views with Obama, why do I hear these charges louder than ever? Are these some of the people (about 70%, according to USA Today) that deemed Bush wrong? If they were, and have had the opportunity to contrast 2 terms, 16 years, one good, one not so good, why would you settle for less than better?

I know lots disagree with Americas’ choice for president. I feel you. I also know it sometimes feels good to attack, attack, attack. However, just as I believe black folks should stop rubbing it in, I think Fox news should suck it up, and tone down the attacks. It is not unifying. Instead, it is feeding into the cynicism of the conservatives that don’t already like Obama; even those on the fence.

Don’t hate/blame the democrats for their success - controlling the house and senate also. They just ran smarter campaigns. In the words of Rev. Pat Robertson on Obama, “I must say, this is the most amazing campaign that I think we've seen in our life time or maybe in this century. Obama is absolutely brilliant.”

It was inspiring versus not so inspiring; unifying versus not so unifying; hope versus fear. And, in the end Americans chose a president.

I was talking with yet another friend of mine, and she said, “…but I’m amazed that the ‘most patriotic’ people are apparently ready to move [out of the country]. Hmm...so so SAD”

Yes, it was a bruising period; especially if your candidate didn’t win. Then again, instead of beating yourself up, you should be concentrating on nursing your injuries and working with the elected candidate. Choosing to remain cynical will end up earning you an uncomfortable spot by the wayside. Then, you will ultimately blame it on the elected candidate.

Rev. Robertson again said, “I would like to make a prediction. He can be one of the great Presidents of the United States, if he doesn't get pulled too far off the center and gets over into some of the things the American people don't want. But, if he governs the way he said he is going to… he has the smarts and the charisma to pull this nation together and be a simply outstanding President."

Finally, George Washington warned that parties will end up dividing America. Should Americans let this happen? Let’s heal the sores and look into the future; look to working together to make this world a better place for you, and those around. That’s my point.

N/B
This is off subject. Conversing with another friend of mine, she said that outlawing abortion is not the magic bullet. Women may go primitive - using hangers (sorry for being graphic). Think about it.
Also, I am losing a few friends as a result of my writings; and may even lose more as a result of this note.

America after November 4th

…If Obama is not elected

Yes, it is possible that Obama may not win. It could either be by a miracle or by the folks (republicans especially) just being screwy.

Have you heard of trying to vote for someone electronically, and it says that you vote for the opponent? I think the cartoon “The Simpsons” predicted this first. Below is a very funny clip from The Simpsons - http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6ys05_homer-simpson-vote-obama_fun

That’s funny… not really; it’s happening now if you have not already heard. Some folks tried voting Democratic but it showed that they voted Republican.

This is some crazy stuff
Here is a case of possible voter fraud - folks trying to vote for one person, and another person is selected - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-OKhtv2G00 (sorry, this video is a little messed up)
And if you have time, some Princeton folks studied this machines and…
here are their findings - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=873xuv8u_xo
If you prefer reading, here is a version - http://itpolicy.princeton.edu/voting/

Some comedian joked, asking why these malfunctions always favor republicans.

On a serious note, if McCain wins,
Yes, the blacks might be a extremely upset initially. Although, I doubt it will it will last long. The truth is blacks tend to be naïve and very forgiving. Sometimes it is a good thing; sometimes it’s not. This time it will be a good thing. This will mean that the blacks will be let it slide again (I believe I’m safe to say that). However, it may take a while for blacks to trust whites (this divide, I’ll touch on a little latter). That’s not the only thing.

A lot of dreams and promises will be stifled. What do I mean? There are dreams and promises of hope that parents of all races make to their children. When parents say, “you can be what you want to be,” the children grow up believing it. But, if Obama is not elected, lots will question that promise; minorities especially. “I thought we can be whatever we want to be,” they will think. “Why couldn’t Barack Obama, even after working 4 times as hard (measuring funds only), not become the president of the United States?” Years later, that question will linger still. This might also have a domino-effect.

Yes, lots of first time voters, these young folks mentioned in the previous paragraph, may not vote for another few elections. A generation of young voters will be disenfranchised. A generation…Think about that. It will be hard to make them believe in politics and polls anymore. It will be harder for them to believe that their vote will ever count. That’s no good news. That’s not all.

Also, there will be a tendency for the McCain folks to have a condescending view towards the Obama supporters. Some folks will actually think that they are more Christian, more American, more righteous, and even more right than others. That obviously doesn’t lead to unity.

…Now, if Obama is elected

On the not so good note,
There might be an initial increase in the racial divide also. When a campaign such as the McCain’s fuel such fear, anger and hatred for the other faction, what should we expect? I might be raising false alarms. I hope I am. But, I strongly believe there would be an initial hike in racism; black against white, and white against black. We are already seeing some traces of this.

There was a story in the news the other day about two men that were plotting to kill Obama, along with a sizable number of African-Americans. Here is the article - http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/10/27/obama.plot/index.html

On a more personal note, a friend of mine, who happens to be black, went to a predominantly white club on a beautiful Thursday night (Halloween before election). When he was leaving, a guy my friend had never met before, who happened to be white, stood in front of his truck, and spat on it. After which, he beaconed on that friend of mine to come out of his truck and do his worst. My friend let that slide; he didn’t feed into the “angry black person” stereotype. I thought that was appalling.

There might even be an increase in the divide between those who support McCain, and those who support Obama. Just like the previous segment, there are already traces in this already.

In the city where I live (somewhere in north Louisiana), there is a scarcity of Obama-Biden banners. This is not because there are no Obama supporters, but because, on various occasions, these signs have been taken down. And, you know the obvious suspects – McCain supporters. I’m not saying that without a doubt, McCain supporters took it down.

People will say that he bought the election, because he raised about $700 million outspent McCain by about 4 to 1. But, we refuse to be accurately informed. I will write a not titled “Déjà vu.” In this note, it shows how McCain did the same about 20 years ago.

On a good note,
Many people of numerous minority races in the US will be highly motivated. When folks have always been told that you can be anything you want to be, it seemed like it was always true about everything else except for the presidency of the United States. Now, blacks, reds, yellows, and even browns will truly believe that statement, and will strive to do better. I strongly believe this.

As a result of an initial increase in the racial divide, blacks especially will have to work twice harder than they ever did before (lots of none-blacks would not understand this). They will have to be more accountable. They have to step up to the plate; a higher plate, and be more responsible. This is because they will no longer have any excuses. And, I mean NONE. Lots of folks will disagree with me on this. Feel free to.

[If you are black and you’re reading this, you’ve got to still keep pushing. Yes, it might initially feel like swimming against the current. Keep swimming. Soon, the current will back you.]

In conclusion, I honestly do hope that however the results turn out, folks can deal with it. We’ve got to pray for whoever wins. I hope some of my negative predictions are wrong. I strongly hope.

Name calling…That’s just bogus

Obama is Muslim, terrorist, Marxist, socialist, communist, unpatriotic, anti-American, even Anti-Christ. Obama is a/an […]. I have to leave that open for tomorrow. The McCain campaign/supporters may still come up with some other name for Obama with the little time left before the election. That’s all a bunch of bollocks. Let me try to answer this stuff one-by-one.

Here is a woman at a rally that called him Arab –http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YIq5Q15L1o. I preferred the SNL clip though - http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/video/clips/update-crazy-mccain-lady-we-liked-it/768741/

But, is he really Muslim? He came under political scrutiny when his pastor of 20 years said some stuff. In church for 20 years, and you still question his Christianity? And you can still call him terrorist and anti-American by association with Bill Ayers and J. Wright? Why can’t you believe that he is a Christian by association with a church for 20 years?

I even heard a pastor praying at McCain campaign – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5g0d3_KE5js&feature=related
I was startled after hearing this prayer. How does a Christian question another Christian’s Christianity? This is not because it is from the McCain campaign. If it was from Obama’s, it’s still appalling.

Next, because of the “spread the wealth” comment, he is called Marxist, socialist, and communist? The health care plan that folks term socialist is not actually socialist. It is “universal” health care. You can do the research. I might write about it. But, that’s not all.

He is called unpatriotic and because he doesn’t wear a flag pin, and he did not place his hand over chest (in ONE picture). Quick questions; do you always wear a flag pin? Do you always place your had over your chest for the American anthem? I can bet you answered a “No” to both of those questions. That’s just bogus. I mean, cut him some slack. How come no one questions McCain’s patriotism? Is it because he is a POW? He doesn’t wear a flag pin now, and Obama does. The next name is quite interesting.

He is the Anti-Christ. I cringe every time I hear this from McCain supporters. Why does the Anti-Christ have to be the black guy? I’m just kidding. But, wow!! That’s really bogus. That’s taking it too far. I don’t even know how else to answer this. He was married in a church. He was a member of that church for about 20 years. He is a Christian. He is a Christian. He is a Christian. How else do you want him to explain it? Again, how come no one questions McCain’s Christianity? C’mon…

I’ve got one last thing. I can’t believe I almost forgot this. He is the “most liberal” senator. In the 2004, Bush-Kerry race, John Kerry was called the most liberal senator. Here is the RNC ad that said that, and why that tag was bogus - (http://www.factcheck.org/how_liberal_is_john_kerry.html). Now (2008), Obama is the most liberal senator. And, the Republicans get all these facts from one source, “The National Journal.” Hmmm…I question The National Journal.

I know you might have got an email or heard something that really explains these names. But, if you already dislike Obama, any explanation with a ray of logic will make sense to you. And you will run with these names and explanations. Funny enough, I bet most of us don’t even know what some of these words mean. But, you know they are not compliments, or at least not names you’ll like to be called.

My advice to the McCain campaign is “Stick to one name.” Well, I guess the McCain campaign can’t comply with that. Since, they have a new strategy/plan almost every week on how to run the campaign. I’m just poking (for this paragraph only).

PS: I’m just challenging your beliefs, and points of views. I don’t hate McCain. I can actually argue for McCain with similar passion. Can you do the same for Obama?

Martin Luther's Dream.

He stood on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, and delivered the words that would resonate through the spine of history. He had a dream. A dream that painted America, painted the world as a mosaic of different colors and beliefs living together in happiness and trust. He preached a message of reconciliation, a message that told black people to refrain from distrust in white people even at a time of grave racism and inequality; because many white people "have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom". He looked past the racial divide of the country to a day when men "will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character". He has a dream of when Blacks, Whites, Asians, Hispanics, Native Americans, and all colors of the world will sit at the table of brotherhood without fear and chart a new course for the world to take. He had faith: "With this faith, we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith, we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood"...he said.

And look where we are today. A man standing on the brink of history, to become the first black President of the United States of America. The country with the original sin of slavery still etched in its bones. The question on everybody's mind: is America ready? I tell you what; A black man cannot become the president of this country without the votes of white people (obviously), if America is not ready now, will they ever be? This guy has done everything this country has asked of him. He is American, he is a family guy who loves his wife and daughters, he has given a major part of his life to public service, he is at least 35 years old, he pledges allegiance to the stars and stripes, he is a christian (even though that shouldn't matter), he even has extremely superb oratorical skills....Even though these characteristics does not qualify you to be president, they shed a light on the kind of life you have led. So when people say they don't believe he is really a Christian, or blatantly call him a Muslim, or a terrorist, or he is not American, it just shows how people can be willfully ignorant just to avoid answering the real question of whether they can stand to see a black man in the white house.

Dont get me wrong, I dont think the American nation is myopic or prejudice, I think this election is going to be determined by the issues facing Americans and the content of the candidates' characters not the colors of their skins. But I also know that this election will serve as a mirror of how far America has come away from her original sin.

A Close Look at Sarah Palin

I promised to write a note on Sarah. I’m sorry I got distracted writing other notes. It was for a good cause though. Well, now I decided to devote one whole article to Sarah. It’s an honor for me to write about a governor. There are some things I’m personally confused about with her though.

I thought she was a pretty honest lady. She is pretty, but is she really honest? I’m beginning to doubt it. I think she might be good at winking and hoodwinking folks. She does have a GOOD unique style though. She initially got me. First, I thought she really was innocent. Then, I thought the “Troopergate Probe” was her first ethics violation, and was willing to forgive her – terming it an unfortunate coincidence. But, I’m just finding out that she could possibly be skilled in ethics violation – she’s done it time and time again. Take a look for yourself - http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081014/ap_on_el_pr/palin_state_ethics

On a Rush Limbaugh interview, she said that the media is trying to get her to shut up. Is that so? Maybe if she accepts some more unbiased interview invitations she might get her message out to the American people, not just the republican base.

This is another point that made me say, “Huh”?
First she didn’t know what VPs do. Now (October 22, 2008), she says they PRESIDE over senate. What the …? I thought VPs were to make tie breakers in the US senate decisions, and to be prepared to take over from president if needed (granted, she’s smart, but can she really do that?). I think she was right when she first said she didn’t know what a VP does. I might be wrong.

I think the question is does she know who she is really running with? She doesn’t fully know his record, and neither does he know hers.

Like I’ve always said, she is a pretty smart lady. But, listening to Fox news (and you already know how I feel about Fox), I questioned that. I found that she attended five colleges for one. How many people have the “privilege” of doing that? So…can I hear the argument about Obama’s inexperience? I’m all ears.

And, about her comments on fruit flies, a friend of mine, Fiyin, addressed this issue. On October 22 2008, he said, “Sarah Palin just said she was going to cut funding for scientific research like 'fruit fly research'- drosophila to help children with autism. Ok. But wait a minute...the synaptic cell surface protein that is defective in children with autism- neurexins - are being researched on in...Fruit flies. So, how is autism research going to work without drosophila research”? Hello!!!! He continued by saying, “…tell her not to piss us scientists off. [That is] another one of those narrow-minded ideologies she holds...” I don’t have anything else to add.

Finally, I know she has to be the attack-dog for the campaign. But, “darn”!! I know she thinks lots of folks may not try to verify her comments. But, Hello!!! There are camera’s everywhere now. Matthew 7:3 says, “And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.”

I guess John should have had better judgment - done a better vetting.

PS. I could go on-and-on on Sarah. But, I’ll stop here. I don’t hate her. I’m just in trying to present the facts to those who care to be open-minded enough to accept it.

RE: Serious Question

After going back and forth on that note, I just decided to write a reply note.

This note is on Facebook also

Serious Question

A friend of mine, Nathan Hall, asked me an eyeopening question in a note.

The note is on Facebook

Taxes and Wealth Redistribution

We have all been hearing a lot of words being used in the news about taxes, redistributions, socialism, classism, etc. I personally took interest in the concept of redistribution of wealth; and I have been doing quite a considerable amount of research on the tax policies and budget spendings of the past couple of presidents (Clinton and Bush II). I also went into the archives and analyzed statements from the 2000 debates between Gore and Bush to buttress my findings.
Let me delve into my point. On Sept 27 2000, President Clinton announced that the federal budget surplus for fiscal year 2000 amounted to at least $230 billion, making it the largest in U.S. history and topping last year's record surplus of $122.7 billion. (source:http://archives.cnn.com/2000/ALLPOLITICS/stories/09/27/clinton.surplus/)

A couple of weeks later, during the Presidential debates, VP Gore highlighted what I will call the 'redistributionist tendency' in the tax policy of George Bush: The fact that he promised higher percentage of tax cuts to people making the most money and less to those with the least. To be specific, Bush gave tax cuts of only $250 for the 20 percent of households with the lowest incomes, compared with $1,090 for the middle 20 percent of households and $78,460 for the top 1 percent of households. (Source:http://jec.senate.gov/archive/Documents/Reports/CBOtaxcuts13aug2004.pdf).
I call this redistributionist because it is giving more and more to those with the most- even taking poor people's incomes and giving them to the rich-this is evident in the fact that poor people got a lower percentage of tax cuts that richer people.

Fast Forward 8 years. Barack Obama is promising Tax cuts for the middle class. This is done by reversing the exorbitant amounts of tax cuts that Bush gave to the top 5% of the population and increasing tax cuts for struggling middle class working families, which are the lifeblood of the American economy. This is not redistributionist, it is re-redistributionist. It is a reversal of the old greedy tax policy. Some savvy politician once said: If the middle class does well, the economy does well. What about vice versa?

Waiting On The World To Change

I was listening to John Mayer, “Waiting on The World to Change.”
If you haven’t, here it is - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPOBMzMTP4U

I think this song perfectly fits the last eight years before this election year. But, I don’t think we need to wait any longer. Let’s enable one of our generation (well, not quite, but sort of) to rule this population. We don’t have to wait for the change any longer. We can help effect this change.

Well, how can I do that?

If you are 18 or over, go to out and vote on or before November 4th. Early voting is going on now, until the 31th of October. Go out and vote again. And, you can also energize people to do the same.

If you are under 18, go out and do your best to energize the “old folks” to go out and let your voice be heard. Convince them to vote. And I hope by the next voting season, you can represent yourself.

Well, back to my song again; not only did he kill the instrumental, but a few lines jumped out at me:

"And when you trust your television
What you get is what you got
Cause when they own the information, oh
They can bend it all they want."

If you still are not sure who to vote for, wherever you get your news from, research your information, and take educated actions. One which should be topmost on your mind now, is: VOTE.

Disclaimer

I know I write lots of stuff, some of which you may have read. Lots of what I write may challenge your thought process. I know.

Well, I write what I write. And, I have tried to substantiate my claims to the best of my ability. I would honestly appreciate if you can disagree with me and constructively substantiate your claim.

I have tried really hard to present my point of view very respectfully, or at least, politically correct. And, I encourage you to do the same. If you don’t like what I write, please state it politically correctly

It is my opinion. We can disagree. But, let’s not degenerate to being disagreeable.

Comparing the Campaigns (2 of 2)

First it was let Sarah be Sarah
Now, its let McCain be McCain
It seems to me that someone is trying to balance on a hotplate

What is the central theme of the McCain campaign? If you can answer me, please do.
Or better yet, what is the theme of the McCain campaign this week? I’m all ears.

Sincerely, if the candidates (McCain and Palin) consistently conflict with their campaign, so much so that spectating, and even some prominent conservatives ask the candidates to be themselves, something is wrong. Some of them even go as far as doing the unthinkable – bashing the McCain Campaign. There is simply no cohesion. And they ask, “Who is the real Obama?” Really?! Contrasting the conservativeness of McCain in 2000 and McCain 2008; and, contrasting favorability rating in Alaska, of Palin as governor and Palin as VP candidate. A fair question is, “Who is the real McCain and Palin?”

And frankly, I don’t blame their campaign. Giving my opinion on “Comparing the Campaigns (1 of 2),” I blame the leadership of that campaign – McCain and Palin. If they cannot adequately lead their campaign of a few thousands, should I really trust them to lead a nation of a few hundred million?

On the economics, compare their two campaigns, from how much they raised to how they were spent. How have they managed their finances?

On leadership, compare their campaigns again – compare their crowds. How have they lead their campaigns? I believe we’ve dissected that.

On judgment, Colin Powell, a Republican, said it all about the decision to select Sarah Palin (I’ll write about her also). Here is what he said

Anything else? If I missed it, say it.

Comparing the Campaigns (1 of 2)

I collected a few videos from the two campaigns late this week, reflecting the general mood of the campaigns. I won’t sway your mind yet. Enjoy the videos, and constructive say what you think first.

McCain Campaign

October 9, 2008 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVHBpokd58c

Is there a difference in the mood in the Obama camp, and the McCain camp?
Do these moods reflect on the campaigns leadership (Obama/McCain)? How?

I’ll have a follow-up note soon

Politicians, Control Yourselves

Fact (October, 8 2007)
100% (1/1) of McCain Ads are negative
33% (1/3) of Obama Ads are negative

Both campaigns are negative. That’s a fact. But, do 100% negative ads from one side indicate something? It sounds like the kitchen sink is being “airmailed” to the Obama campaign.

Someone is obviously using the hatchet, while the other is using a scalpel. You be the judge on that.

Mrs. McCain says the Obama campaign have the worst negative attacks
I guess Bush Jr. should have done a better job in 2000

If the conservative beliefs ought to be based on the bible, I should be safe to quote the bible…
“Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.” – Matt 7:5

Sen. McCain says no to negative politics
McCain campaign have no recent positive Ads
McCain campaign tries to distract voters by negative politicking

Sen. McCain says Rev J. Wright is off-limits
Palin says Pastor J. Wright is fair game
And, what's the deal with Bill Ayers? How about Gordon Liddy?

Sen. McCain agrees that families are off limits
Mrs. McCain brings her son into contention

I’m not blindly leaning one way. I’m a little of both – Conservative and Liberal. Call me independent, if you may.

On the Conservative side, I am anti-abortion (unless in extreme cases). I’m a Christian, and I oppose the removal of Christian symbols from public/government areas. I don’t support same-sex marriages. I also do not support long-term welfare.

On the Liberal side, I oppose the death penalty. I support the Affirmative action (in unique cases). I do not fully support the right to bear arms (but, guns don’t kill, people with can kill). I also do support some level (not majorly) of government regulation of the economy, health care, etc.

The truth remains, that I often gravitate to positive, inspirational conditions. In this election cycle, (Conservatives and Liberals should agree with me on this note) the Obama campaign has being the more positive of the two. That explains my lean.
Now, when a conservative like Bobby May, who was once under the McCain campaign payroll in Virginia, makes claims such as THIS, I’m forced to disagree with him just as the McCain campaign did.

Not every conservative is guilty of this, those who are didn’t read to this point. If they did, they are most likely frowning now, and want to rip me to shreds.

Fox News is Totally Unbiased

Really! Please, spare me that Bush-crap. Or should I say, Bush-shit?

I am not American, so am I likely to be bias? I leave that to you. But, looking at the polls…

CBS
Obama – 40%
McCain – 26%
Fair polling. I’ll say.

CNN
Obama – 54%
McCain – 30%
Fair polling. Not too far from the first, and the range for most polls.

FOX
McCain – 86%
Obama – 12%
Really?!

Wow. Fox’s polls reflect one of two things – it is either Fox skewed the results, or most, if not all the viewers are conservatives. If the first were right, that’s appalling. If the second were right, that means that even amongst the conservatives, 12% see that Obama makes sense, and that the remaining 86% are veiled by pretty Sarah Palin (this is for another paragraph), and refuse to think. As if that is not one-sided enough, here is more evidence.

While, Fox blows the negatives of Obama’s and the democrats’ roles in the economic crisis out of proportion, they never once talk about the republican leadership – Bush, nor McCain’s role in a similar in the recent past. Fox doesn’t talk about The Keating Five. Hold on, there is still some more.

While, Fox continually shows documentaries linking Obama to Bill Ayers, they do not talk about McCain’s “terrorist pal,” Gordon Liddy
I bet most of you have never heard about this until now. McCain is to Liddy, as Obama is to Ayers.

Let’s talk about Gov. Palin. Just as I have always stated, she is a smart, pretty lady. But, I have gradually lost my respect for her. Even some Alaskans will agree with me on this; her approval ratings in Alaska recently dropped by about 14%. You can read more here, , or for another point of view, here. But, Fox still gives her better than an A grade candidate.

I admit, she did better than I expected in the VP debate. Maybe, it is because of my already low standards for her going into them. You already know what happened with the Katie Couric interviews, and you are entitled to your opinion. The point is, the debate definitely gave her a confidence boost. But, I hate to almost always have to fact-check McCain and Palin’s words especially, after the VP debate. I guess even confidence boosts have a negative flip side. Don’t get me wrong, I also fact-check those from the Obama camp.

I thought Sarah didn’t get a beat down in the debates. A lot of conservatives will agree with me on this. Fox said she won. But, hear the commentator’s, Gwen Ifil’s interesting opinion.

The point is, for those who think Fox news is totally unbiased, you may want to rethink.

Presidential/VP Debates

Convention Politics and Some – Barack Obama, Joe Biden, John McCain, and Sarah Palin

P.O.W, P.O.W, P.O.W, I respect that, but I’ve heard enough stories about being a P.O.W, give me a powwow about the issues – gas prices, jobs, and the economy in general.

I think this whole Republican National Convention was all about Barack Obama. He must be doing something good, if a whole Republican National Convention was dedicated to talking about this man’s personality, and very little about the issues on the American dinner table. Making numerous false claims that cannot be sufficiently substantiated. It was just a butt load of negative politics; the share lack of inspiration for the people from the Republican National Convention. It was a pretty depressing convention with a bunch of uhhhs, and ahhhs - people cheering. I guess that explains the “slow but steady” economic decrescendo with the last 8 years of Republican rule had to offer. Also, the ever present willingness to pass the bulk on the leadership errors to the majorly Democratic House/Senate gets me. I am appalled.

Republicans, please be original. McCain says, “Change is coming.” Stealing the message of “change” is in no way original. Now, the twist is, is it good change or bad change?

McCain’s speech was filled with what he will do, nothing about how he will do it, or where he will get the funding from. And I hear people cheering? What is this; brainwashing?

Obama didn’t give specifics on everything, but he said he will mop up monies from unnecessary spending, and redirect it to more useful causes like revamping the Health care system.

Recently, McCain and Sarah claim Alaska’s proximity to Russia, gives Sarah a great deal of national security/foreign policy experience. Pause. Think about that statement. Experience by proximity? Be serious, please. I always believed experience comes by actually engaging in the activity.

If the Republicans claim that Obama and Biden, hasn’t lead anything, like a state, etc, then neither has McCain. So, should Sarah be the top of the ticket?
And by the way, who is Sarah Palin? I just recently learnt how to pronounce her name. Well, McCain is used to having pretty faces; maybe that explains the Sarah Palin pick. As one of the interviewers on CNN said and I paraphrase, if McCain dies, God forbid, hope the beauty queen can handle Georgia.

Also, her recent streak of cluelessness has been appalling. Democrats, Independents, and Republicans alike, will agree with me. I know Alaskans are smart, and so is their leader, Sarah. But, the publics’ view is tainted. I hope the VP debates change that view of Sarah.

On a frivolous note, even the chant of “Yes we Can” of the Democratic National Convention is replaced with “USA” in the Republican National Convention…the definition of counterfeit. Are the Republicans indirectly hinting that the Democrats of are once again “unpatriotic”? Also, at the conventions, I saw someone texting during Giuliani’s speech while folks were crying after Obama’s.

These might be false claims. I might just be a democratic fanatic, which I strongly doubt it. You may share your comment(s).

I love you? Really?

Relationships don't work the way they do on television and in the movies…the whole meet kiss say I do and live happilly forever crap…give me a break. 9 out of 10 of them will end because they are not right for each other to begin with and 50% of the ones who get married get divorced anyway…..call me a cynic but believe…I still believe in love.…I still do believe in the mushy gushy cant eat sleep drink breathe type of love…bottomline, couples that are truly right for each other go through the same crap as everybody else but the difference is they don't let it take them down. Those two people will stand up and fight for that relationship every time, they should count themselves as very fortunate people.

No Obama? Hillary 2012? P.U.M.A (Party Unity My Ass)

This is especially for the Hillary supporters that remain adamant…
Still want Hillary on the ballot in 2008
Want her on the ballot in 2012
Would rather vote for McCain,
Will vote for 3rd party; or
Will not vote at all…What?!?

Implications…

  • This will reduce the democratic percentages/representation, come November.
  • That will make it more likely that someone, other than a Democrat would get elected in the 2008 election cycle.
  • Looking at recent history, since 1981 every president has had two terms apart from George H.W. Bush (The first George Bush). If history repeats itself, which I believe will, then there is a possibility that the person that gets elected in 2008 will remain till 2016.

If Senator John McCain…
I don’t wish him bad luck but, assuming that he remains alive for those eight years, which adds up to 16 straight years for the Republicans in the White House. If a man or a party does not get their act together within 16 years of practice, he must be either seriously retarded, or dead. I want to believe that the Republican Party is neither (Correct me if I am wrong). Thus, the perfection of a 16 year practice will put the Republican Party in a better position for the 2016 elections. That will spell another Republican tenure. I do not think you Democrats, or better yet “Democrats,” want to see that, or do you?
Not mentioning the fact that Senator McCain also flip-flops; a pot calling kettle black. He opposed the Bush tax cuts twice (2001 and 2003) and off-shore drilling, but he is now for them. Also, President Bush has very low approval because of the decisions he made and still makes, and Senator John McCain has voted with President Bush 100% of the time in 2008 and 95% of the time in 2007. One of the most striking is that he is for the war on Iraq.

If Senator Barack Obama…
Repeating the scenario above, say he has two good terms in office, does that not give Senator Hillary a better chance, even if it might come later than expected? Think about it…

Not voting at all is not even an option. If you do not vote, you have no basis whatsoever to complain about whatever government takes the seat in November 2008.

I do not question or knock your support for the brave Senator from New York or the Senator from Arizona. But, I seriously question your rationale.

Finally, here is a sincere question/food for thought for those who support the various candidates; be it Senators Hillary, Obama or McCain. Are you a fanatic or a rational supporter?

Relationship “Quantar”*

“I’m in love. I’m in love” we all seem to cry, at the slightest spark of lust or infatuation. For the unmarried, it has the “boyfriend…girlfriend” tag; or better yet, the “Fiancé…Fiancée” tag. And, for the married, it is the “…till death do us part” tag.

Relationships, either married or unmarried, both are some form of relationship with a promise of longevity. Of course, the former should be longer than the latter. But, why is it that at the minutest sight of instability, most relationships come crumbling like a pack of cards? That goes to show that the love once proclaimed, maybe really wasn’t present. Does that explain the frivolity to which people see the “…till death do us part” vow? I thought the earlier part of the vow states, “…through thick and thin”? I thought…I thought.

This “minutest sight of instability” is more often than not generated by a lack of trust, the lack of money/resources or the lack of both. For the unmarried, it is usually due to the lack of trust. And for the married, it is usually due to the lack of both. Once again, I though it was meant to be through thick and thin?

Some may say that the lack of trust is the worst of the scenarios. “What if they cheat on me”? You may ask. You are not the first to experience that. The Clintons lived through it. I won’t talk about the instability that stems from the lack of money, because lots…I mean lots of people have overcome that.

Selfishness is the real problem. Where is the commitment? Where is the promise? Where is the tangible intangibility of…? Where is the love?... the unconditional love?

*Quantar means problem in Pidgin English

Analysis: Obama Race Speech

You guessed right, if you guessed that this article was about the speech given by Obama on March 18, 2008, that was aimed at calming the tension generated by his pastor’s, Rev. Wright, sermons. If you have not already heard the speech, below is the full video:

Speech Video Only

If you still want to be absolutely sure that you heard what you heard, or for some other reason, want to read the speech, below is a manuscript:

The full text

Analysis

After reading or listening the above, you must be fully ready for the analysis.

Whatever Obama did was going to be judged by insatiable Americans, or humans, at large. If he threw his pastor under the bus, people would say, “That was an overreaction, Obama.” If he didn’t throw his pastor under the bus, which he did, people would say, like they are saying now, “Crucify Him. Disown Him. Disown Rev. Wright.”

Be serious, please. What do you want him to do? Eat his cake and have it? Logically, that is not possible people. Tell me what you want him to do? I’ll wait…

I watched a few analyses of the speech and the situation surrounding it. Here they are:

- Al Sharpton Analysis

- Todd Mitchem Analysis

- LiberalViewer Analysis

After all this, if you still do not see the rationality in Obama’s decision, Tell me what you wanted him to do? I’m still waiting…

Ruthlessness of Man

People, we've got to care for the vulnerable that live amongst us. How can humans be this ruthless. God help us.

I read what I am about to show you. I was not halfway done, and I was in tears, in sympathy for a vulnerable, innocent, pregnant lady

Read this, and say what you feel.

People, we've really got to care for the vulnerable that live amongst us.

I do not know what this is? Is it racism? Sexism? Or flat out, Ruthlessness? Someone please explain this to me. I am highly appalled. I am speechless

Cliché Wins Again - In Politics

Clinton tells Obama: 'Shame on you'; Obama fires back

This is the article where Hillary Clinton tells Obama, "Shame on you," and a reply from Obama

When I first read it and watched the video, I laughed. There is a big delve into nefarious tactics, which should not be. I believe that politics is a game, and the game could be fair and simple. These could be classified as one of the “Good deed gone bad.”

I sincerely believe that at this point in time in the race, they should not be going into each other closets to looking for fictitious skeletons. Even if the skeletons that are found are real, is this the time to uncover that? Do you want to strengthen your major opponents, the democrats?

Sincerely, it is funny. With the way it is going, I do not believe that either Obama or Hillary would pick the other as a running mate. I guess the cliché, “Politics is a dirty game,” is true after all.

So much for Politicking…

Campus Shootings

What is wrong with us? Is that the “in” thing? Is shooting the in thing? You meet a misfortune, and you go on a shooting spree? I guess we consider that cool.
  • The Bath School disaster on May 18, 1927, caused the death of 45 people and injured 58.
  • The University of Texas Tower sniping on August 1, 1966, caused the death of 16 people,(including the mother and wife of the shooter), and wounded 31 others.
  • The Columbine High School massacre occurred on Tuesday, April 20, 1999, in which 13 students and a teacher, were killed as well as 23 others wounded.
  • The Virginia Tech massacre on April 16, 2007, caused the death of 33 people, and another 21 people were injured.
  • The Louisiana Technical College murders on February 8, 2008, involved 3 people.
  • And the most recent of all being the NIU shooting on February 18, 2008, caused the death of 7 people, and injured about 18 people.

What a trend? Strange enough, some people actually think it is cool to take out their anger on the world. Some people think it is cool to commit homicide before suicide. We know you already hate yourself; you don’t have to terminate innocent souls also. I am fully aware that suicides are the 11th cause of death in the U.S. But sincerely, I would rather that suicides be the 11th and not homicides. I am not advocating suicides, but kill just yourself if you hate life that much.

You are making it harder for the people that still care about life. The victims of these killing, students and teachers, are people that have dreams for a better society. You are killing future employers, politicians…That is food for thought.

And for parents that play this blame game, blaming the video game, I think the fault is YOU. If you would check the rating on the games you buy or the ones your children play you might have seen it coming. I don’t think the government tells you to spoil your child. Well, if they told you to and you buy into their idea…sorry to say, YOU ARE A FOOL. If you are the parent that sees the inappropriate ratings, and still buys these games for your kids, you need a psychiatrist, because you really shouldn’t have the custody of that child.

The internet is great. But if you leave your child on the internet unmonitored, I should slap you. Tell me you are kidding…Do you really think that is wise? Please…

If you cannot take care of a child, do not bring them into this world to suffer, and/or torment us a few years down the line. Maybe if your brain did the thinking and not below your waist, we would not have such a sick cycle…A cycle we adore.

Black, Though Not American

We tend to reject the fact that we are black. This is common amongst black internationals. I am guilty of it too. Today, I decide to expunge that notion from my memory bank, and hopefully yours.

Be ye from Africa, Asia, the Caribbean Islands, Europe, Oceania, South America, etc, and you have African heritage, you are black. Wherever you are, you are considered black. Most black internationals seem to deny this fact. True, some of us are “blacker” (permit my term) than the others, but that does not erase the fact that we are all black. Remember the “One Drop Rule”?

Yes, there is unity in diversity. But so-called diversity has to be defined for unity to be birthed from it. “I’m African; I am ‘Cablanasian’,” we proudly voice, not knowing that we are gradually eroding the definition of that which makes blacks so diverse. If we constantly erode this definition of diversity, when do we give a chance to this pregnant world to birth unity out of diversity? When?

No racism intended. I can stand and say, “I am proudly Nigerian. I am proudly Black.” Can you? You do not have to be American to be black. Until we globally unite as a people, black, we cannot create a unique diversity that will fuel the unity in diversity. Hand in hand, let us help us grow. There is strength in the unity of diversity. There is unity in diversity.

RATPACK

Humans frequently are characterized as ratpacks. We are unwilling to trash personal belongings, even after their uselessness have been established. We still keep these things around for unreasonable sentimental purposes, but they constitute clutter, confusion, and most of all, they increase the activation energy of progress. I compare this situation to investing in a falling stock. When a stock is in the downward turn, some half witted investors might invest in it, thinking that the stock would miraculously turnaround and start rising. Contrary to their expectations, the stock price keeps falling...why?...because it is a 'falling' stock (duh!). Smarter investors however chose to invest their money in stock that are..(you guessed it)..RISING! The crux of my argument is that, in the course of our lifetime, we meet people. Our relationships with these people sometimes progress to lifelong friendships or even enmities. The good close relationships we have sometimes deteriorate to less intimate, less respectful ones, and we find ourselves holding on to what is inexistent. We find ourselves fixated on the hypothetical "could-have-been-happily-ever-after" thoughts. (...falling emotional stock price?). Is it not beneficial to channel energies to more concrete, valuable, and beneficial entities..(rising emotional stock prices?)...hmmm...seems like an easy thing to do...uh?

A Stray From The Norm

The Facade

Behind a facade, sometimes we seem to find something real, something tangible enough to hold on to. In some cases however, we discover that people sometimes are like gift boxes without gifts in them. We put out fronts and shields to hide from the world from who we are, as a measure to avoid being 'figured out' . The ineptitude of (wo)man forgets that when you refuse self actualization, and are complaisant to the 'requirements' of your environment, you lose the originality and the interesting characteristics that make you...you! When you finally decide to let go and embrace yourself, you discover that there is nothing to embrace there. The entire entity called self has vanished in the vortex of pretense and cozenage. Okay...with all these abstractions, you are expecting a concrete example to make it all clear...right? Yeah right!

Politicians are Pimps

Almost all Politicians are pimps. Would you blame a pimp for having a plethora of prostitutes? Or, would you blame the prostitutes? I would blame the prostitutes. The pimp is just exploiting the prostitutes’ ignorance. Samuel Langhorne Clemens (Mark Twain) once said, "Let us be thankful for the fools; but for them the rest of is could not succeed."

These politicians are only exploiting our ignorance. We can avoid this like we can avoid death caused by smoking. How can we do this? Read! Study!! Research!!! If the the poor and the middle class (we) can research more into these "betterment" schemes, see that they are not for our betterment, and avoid them.
